Cardiac and vascular imaging specialists on the medical staff of The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton use innovative technologies to provide quality care using advanced imaging modalities. The specialists use imaging technologies to diagnose and manage a wide range of cardiac and vascular disorders. With the advent of more precise imaging, quicker scan times, and more controlled radiation doses, today's imaging is faster, more comfortable, and safer than ever before.
The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton is one of three hospitals in the DFW Metroplex to offer the advanced imaging device, the Siemens Somatom Definition Flash 256-slice CT scanner. The Philips EPIQ Ultrasound is another innovative technology offered. The 256-slice CT scanner produces quality images by acquiring four times more data faster than before. The scanner can capture a complete three dimensional (3D) scan of the heart in just one heartbeat, and a full body scan can be completed as quickly as a few seconds. The EPIQ ultrasound has advanced software with extremely high resolution imaging that can quantitatively and objectively see how your heart is beating. This new technology is capable of looking at entire areas of the heart, and within one heartbeat can get a complete three dimensional (3D) reconstruction of heart valves; in three to four beats, it can create a complete reconstruction of a heart in motion.
Imaging technologies use ultrasound, x-rays, magnetic field, and advanced computer software to create detailed images of the internal structures of your body or heart. Some imaging techniques may require a contrast agent. This substance, similar to a dye, makes structures inside your heart and body more clearly visible on a computer screen. Other tests, such as ultrasound, use high-frequency sound waves to visualize the blood flow through your arteries and veins. These procedures are noninvasive, which means your doctor does not have to make any incisions, they are relatively painless, and are often performed in an outpatient facility.
Imaging is an important part of diagnosing heart and vascular disorders and help to prevent you from future heart events. The Heart Hospital uses innovative technology to take pictures of your heart and the surrounding area. Through noninvasive imaging, for example, your physician can see how effectively your heart is pumping or blood is circulating through your arteries and your body. Preventive screening and heart tests allow us to track how you're doing and make a diagnosis.
