The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program is a coordinated exercise and education program designed to help you improve your physical endurance and strength following a cardiac event, such as a heart attack, or heart surgery — and to set you on the course for a healthier lifestyle. Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is often recommended for people who have had a heart attack, valve repair/replacement surgery, coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), or coronary angioplasty and stenting, or for people who have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease or heart failure.
The program which typically lasts 6 to 12 weeks, is customized to your unique needs and is designed to help you understand your condition and how you can prevent future problems through education and exercise. The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program features a multidisciplinary team of professionals including nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians, and chaplains working together to coordinate your rehabilitation program.
The Heart Hospital also offers a free half-day education workshop to the public, called Leap for Life®, which covers risk factor modification, exercise, diet and nutrition, stress management, medications and more.
A more recent offering is our
Safe Start program which is a modified version of our standard cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program. This program is designed for guests who may not qualify for or whose insurance may not cover phase II cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
Safe Start allows guests to receive the benefits of a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program in a shortened, self-pay format.
