Damien M. Dauphinée, DPM, FACFAS, FAENS, FACCWS, CWS-P is the founder of the wound care program in Denton and current Medical Director of Limb Preservation and Wound Care Management for the Comprehensive Wound Center at The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton. Dr. Dauphinée is board certified in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rear Foot and Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is a Certified Wound Specialist, board certified in wound management by the American Board of Wound Management. Dr. Dauphinée has special interest in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery and trauma, as well as peripheral nerve injuries. He is a current Fellow and served as President of the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons in 2009. Dr. Dauphinée completed a mini-fellowship in external fixation techniques at the Russian ILIZAROV Scientific Centre for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics (RISC-RTO) in Kurgan, Russia in 2007. Dr. Dauphinee's current research interests lie in reducing diabetic foot ulcer recurrence rates by correcting common nerve entrapment sites contributing to neuropathy and sensory loss. Dr. Dauphinée lectures nationally and internationally on the subjects of diabetic limb salvage, hyperbaric oxygen therapy for chronic wounds, and peripheral nerve pathology and treatment.
Laurie A. Aten, MD, MPH, Medical Director of Hyperbaric Therapy Services for the Comprehensive Wound Center at The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton. She is on-site daily to help oversee patient care. Dr. Aten attended the University of Nebraska where she completed her undergraduate studies, graduated from medical school, and completed a residency in Family Practice. She practiced in Lincoln, NE before completing a residency in Aerospace Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton, OH. While at Wright State, Dr. Aten received her Masters of Public Health (MPH) and hyperbaric training.
Dr. Aten was appointed as faculty at the University of Alabama-Huntsville in Family Medicine. There, she worked with NASA as Medical Supervisor for the development of the water reclamation system for the International Space Station. Dr. Aten subsequently transferred to the Johnson Space Center in Houston. She served as Medical Officer and Chief Environmental Scientist for the development of the Environmental Control Life Support System for the International Space Station and the Shuttle/MIR project. Dr. Aten practiced Emergency Medicine for 10 years before returning to Hyperbaric Medicine and developing her practice in wound care. She is Board Certified in Hyperbaric and Aerospace Medicine and treats wound care and hyperbarics patients full-time.
