A non healing wound, also called a chronic wound, is a sore that has not started to heal within two weeks. These wounds may be caused by a variety of factors, including:

  • Bone infections (osteomyelitis)
  • Burns
  • Decubitus or pressure ulcers
  • Diabetes
  • Diabetic neuropathy
  • Gangrene
  • Necrotizing fasciitis
  • Obesity
  • Peripheral arterial disease and other vascular diseases
  • Radiation exposure
  • Skin irritations
  • Surgery or trauma
  • Venous stasis

The team at The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton treats wounds affected by a variety of disorders using evidence-based, advanced adjunctive wound therapies. Our innovative outpatient facility is the only center in Denton County offering hyperbaric oxygen therapy for non-healing wounds as well as advanced treatment approaches for Charcot Foot. A multidisciplinary team, including vascular surgeons, hyperbaric therapy and wound specialists, podiatric foot and ankle surgeons, and specialty nurses, works closely with you and your physician to develop the best approach to your wound healing issue.

  • Comprehensive wound evaluation and individualized treatment plan
  • Compression dressings

  • Manufactured (bio-engineered) tissue graft application
  • Negative pressure wound therapy (Wound vacuum assisted closure or VAC)
  • Referral for Rotational flap closures and post procedure care
  • Referral for Skin grafts and post procedure care
  • Transcutaneous oxygen monitoring
  • Wound care and debridement
