Denton, TX — (November 28, 2016) — The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton (THHBD), is pleased to announce the opening of its'
Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center. This is an important milestone, enabling patients who receive treatment at THHBD to complete their cardiac rehabilitation here and to provide a convenient option to patients treated elsewhere, who live in the Denton area. Ricky Harris, DO, FACC, serves as medical director of the program and will supervise cardiac rehabilitation care plans.
Experienced rehabilitation specialists work collaboratively to customize cardiac rehabilitation plans to meet patients' individual needs. Typically lasting six to 12 weeks, the program's exercise activities are carefully planned and monitored by the specialists. Educational components may include diet and nutrition counseling, medication information and stress-reduction techniques.
The goal of rehabilitation is to help patients rebuild physical strength and maintain healthy lifestyles after a cardiac event or cardiovascular surgery. The program is also appropriate for patients with chronic conditions, such as coronary artery disease or heart failure, who can benefit from exercise and risk-factor modification.
Located on the second floor of the medical office building on the campus of The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton, the facility features a workout room with treadmills, exercise bicycles, recumbent cross trainers and hand weights. The center's address is 2817 S. Mayhill Road, Suite 230, Denton, TX 76208. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

PLANO, TX — (June 6, 2016) — The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have released their latest Hospital Compare star ratings of the nation’s 3,544 hospitals and health care facilities and The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano and The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton each received five star ratings for “Patients’ Experiences” – the highest score possible. Ratings are based on data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Survey (HCAHPS) measures included in Hospital Compare.
The two hospitals are the only two health care facilities within the Baylor Scott & White Health to earn the coveted five star rating for “Patients’ Experiences.” Additionally, each hospital is the only hospital in its respective market to earn the highest rating possible. Of the nation’s 3,544 hospitals and health care facilities evaluated in the latest CMS Hospital Compare analysis, The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano and The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton are two of only 168 entities that received five star ratings, ranking both hospitals in the top five percent in the United States.

DENTON, TX — (April 11, 2016) — The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton, with an impressive score of 92 percent, has been listed as one of the 65 top hospitals in the country whose physicians always communicate well with their patients, according to a recently published list in Becker's Hospital Review.
According to Becker's, the national average for patients rating their physician as "always" communicating well is 82 percent.
The list published by Becker's is comprised of hospitals across the country about which at least 92 percent of patients reported on their Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Survey that their physician "always" communicated well.

The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton performs first surgery of this kind in Denton
DENTON , TX — (Sept. 1, 2015) — Denton's first minimally invasive aortic valve replacement surgery was performed on June 19, 2015, at The Heart Hospital Baylor Denton. Minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery procedures allow surgeons to perform isolated valve surgery on high-risk patients, such as the very elderly for whom open heart surgery may not be the best approach or those requiring repeat procedures.

Denton Record Chronicle February 27, 2014 - A $20 million expansion of Heart Hospital Baylor Denton, formerly North Texas Hospital, is underway to add six intensive care suites and a cardiovascular operating room, in addition to interior renovations already completed, officials said. "With that [addition], it's a 22-bed hospital dedicated to heart and vascular health, where the facility will do everything from cardiovascular wellness to open heart surgery," said hospital president Mark Valentine.
